Why was the  Second Amendment written? To start with let’s think about the bloody 8 year struggle that our forefathers went through to secure our liberty from Great Britain. They sacrificed everything they had so that their posterity (that would be us) could be free. The Second Amendment was written by the First Congress in 1789 and reads: “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” This was written to make sure that the government could be held accountable for its actions and not get out of control. It mentions nothing about hunting, target shooting, or anything else. Think about it, do you really think that our forefathers would have sacrificed everything they had; many of them their lives, to throw off the tyrannical King that was trying to disarm them…
