Would you trade your 2nd Amendment rights for a $2,000 tax break?

CT Democrat Rep. Rosa DeLauro proposed a new bill on Monday that would offer gun owners a tax break for voluntarily turning in their assault weapons.

Also known as the Support Assault Firearm Elimination and Education of our (SAFER) Streets Act, this bill will be reintroduced by DeLauro next week. However, this is not the first time that DeLauro has introduced the SAFER legislation. Originally this bill was introduced in January 2013, but did not make it through with enough votes from the House Republicans.

“Assault weapons are not about hunting, or even self-defense,” DeLauro said. “There is no reason on earth, other than to kill as many people as possible in as short a time as possible, that anyone needs a gun designed for a battlefield.”

    Not NO, but &$@@ NO! NEVER!

    I’ve spilled blood for our country, I’m offended by the very idea that some idiot thinks my patriotism can be bought!

    Oh, I’m sure that all the thugs and criminals will jump at the chance for some quick cash – yeah right – that’s never going to happen.

    There should be some basic intelligence test before one can run for public office!
